Serving Together in Faith
Let me introduce myself...
It is a joy for me to have the opportunity to serve in a ministry that helps people be about the work of sharing the Good News. This is to be our primary task as Jesus’ followers. It is by His love for us that we can have the ability to share that same love with others. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). This scripture reminds us that we were sinners just the same as everyone we know. It is truly Christ Jesus that makes all the difference in us and does make all the difference in every human! This is the Good News we get to share.
My goal for Fair and Rodeo Evangelism is to glorify our Father in Heaven. The means by which we would hope to do this is two-fold: First, that many would hear and believe that Christ died for their sin and rose from the dead to give them victory over eternal Hell and separation from God; Secondly, that those who are now saved by Christ’s work would be so energized by the Lord that they actively look for opportunities to share the knowledge of Jesus so others can find salvation in Him too.
By way of personal introduction I will give you a little of my background. I came to believe in Christ as Savior as a young teenager and as I grew I drifted away from Him. When I was 20 I was impressed anew of the supremacy of our omnipotent God. Soon after the Lord led me to meet my wife—well, at the time she wasn’t my wife. Ha! Soon after by the grace of God we became the parents of 3 children, and they have now grown up and are three lovely wives and mothers in their own right, and they have made us the proud grandparents of 6 wonderful grandchildren.
After working as an electrician for about 5 years we moved to Oklahoma and I farmed and ranched with family. It was during this time that I had lots of time to drive the tractor and listen to God. We decided to stop farming and gain some schooling. We chose Dallas Theological Seminary and by the Lord’s grace and the support of many others I earned a Masters in Biblical Studies and a Masters in Christian Education.
I continued to work in a commercial bakery even after school while serving for 12 years in a church as their part-time children’s and youth pastor. I seriously enjoyed this experience and thank the Lord for those times.
Then I became impressed by the Lord to step aside from that ministry, and I have increased my work with Fair and Rodeo Evangelism ever since. Although I still work full time in the bakery, I spend much of my time seeking to serve the Lord through this ministry. It is my experiences of the work-a-day world that have brought me to appreciate the struggles of many believers who are seeking to honor their God and King.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” You can rest assured that the path He leads you on will lead directly to Jesus!
